LBDS welcomes newest Technical Service Manager – North American Biofuels

LBDS is very happy to announce that Shelly Siemonsma has joined Lallemand Biofuels & Distilled Spirits in the position of Technical Service Manager. In this role, she will provide technical support for our fuel ethanol North American customers.

Shelly graduated from Black Hills State University in 1999 with a BS in Biology and KSU with Masters in Microbiology with emphasis in Food and Consumer Safety. Just out of college, she worked for Jack Links Beef Jerky setting up laboratories in production facilities globally and assisted with compliance and regulation. Some of her early work included FDA regulation for “Product of Origin” requiring producers/manufactures to notify consumers where products were produced.  The last 15 years of her professional career has been spent with Advanced Bioenergy, a 35MGY production facility in South Dakota, as the Lab and Quality Assurance Manager. Shelly was responsible for environmental and safety regulations as well.  Her duties involved ethanol production management, fermentation optimization and trouble-shooting, continuous analysis of key process indicators, plant and environmental safety, as well as regulatory compliance. While employed with ABE, she assisted in several plant construction projects (learned to rebuild process pumps) and expansions as well as laboratory management of 3 facilities producing 200MGY.

Shelly is an avid sports fan and loves watching her 3 kids in their various activities. She is active in her community and currently holds a position on the Huron SD School Board of Education. She enjoys reading, movies, outdoor activities, fishing and hunting as well as spending time with her family and friends.
