Vice President, Marketing and Product Development
Craig has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated in 1990 and started his career in alcohol production working in the QA/QC lab for ADM. Craig moved into the world of enzymes with Gist Brocades in the applications lab of the industrial enzyme division and later a sales position within the fruit juice and wine division.
He returned to the ethanol market in a sales position with Genencor International and later transitioned into a role as Applications Manager where he specialized in enzyme technical applications for the use of novel enzyme technology in the ethanol industry. He was responsible for introducing new technologies and products such as specific alpha amylases, glucoamylases, and proteases into the ethanol industry. Craig was later involved in product development and marketing for the fuel ethanol industry.
Now with Lallemand Biofuels & Distilled Spirits, Craig is responsible for the marketing and development of LBDS’ product line of yeast, yeast nutrients and antimicrobials. This includes market strategy development, market analysis, product and technical literature development, global advertising coordination, and industry tradeshow sponsorship coordination. He is also responsible for product management including the introduction of new products, designing and implementing commercialization plans, and new product development. One example is the introduction of a new biotech yeast product into the industry called TransFerm Yield+®.
Craig has been in the ethanol industry for 20+ years, and has been awarded 13 patents. Craig has written many scientific articles and two chapters that appear in the 6th edition of “The Alcohol Textbook.”
